About TxHarmony Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine
Disease conditions occur when the external environment affects our body when its energy is insufficient to adjust itself to the change. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes the importance of fortifying the body energy so that our physical, emotional and spiritual health is robust enough to go with the flow of time, season, life and other tangible and intangible transitions.
The means traditional Chinese medicine has been using throughout the past thousands of years to ensure the health of all forms of sentient beings include lifestyle, diet, exercise, herbal medicine, body work and acupuncture. We would love to discuss all the above aspects with you to eradicate the cause(s) for the health conditions so that you are not only dealing with symptoms like a cat chasing its tail.
We, at TxHarmony Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine, are dedicated to providing quality healthcare in a casual, relaxing and tranquil environment and yet in a thorough and caring manner. You can find a partial list of conditions we have successfully treated. If you’re not certain if your health concern can be addressed in our clinic, please feel free to call or email us to set up a free 30-minute consultation.
Kevin Luo, L.Ac., Dipl. O.M.
In his previous life, Kevin Luo received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from UCLA and had worked as an engineer for almost 10 years. While volunteering with the Tzu Chi Foundation in northern California, he discovered his passion for Chinese medicine and decided to end his engineering career to pursue a different career path.
Kevin Luo then received his training in traditional Chinese medicine at the prestigious American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in beautiful San Francisco, CA. While in the vigorous program at ACTCM, he also studied classical Chinese medical texts with Dr. Aide Men, a renowned practitioner in the bay area. Since relocating to Austin, TX, Kevin kept on learning new techniques to strive to provide the best treatments for his patients.
Kevin has been a licensed acupuncturist in Texas (AC00961) and also a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) since 2006. He had previously worked for the People’s Medical Publishing House in Beijing as a translator and editor of Chinese medicine texts. PepsiCo had also hired him as a Chinese medicine consultant to explore future beverage products using Chinese herbs.
I have been suffering from GERD for several years and although I dislike taking it, Omeprazole was the only thing that I could count on to alleviate the problem. On somewhat of a whim, I decided to try acupuncture (not really expecting any success) but after just two sessions, there was immediate improvement. My GERD is not completely gone but it is much, much better and I can only ascribe this to being stuck with needles as I have done nothing else different.
I’m CURED of Cedar Fever! My Cedar Fever had been getting progressively worse after having lived in Austin for years. I tried Singular, Benadryl, saline sinus washes, honey, not going outside, and finally leaving Austin for the frozen northlands. The only thing that worked was leaving town. I finally decided it was time to try acupuncture with Kevin Luo for my allergy. After about 4 sessions I felt CURED. This is how the sessions worked: I would visit with Kevin for a short while. He’d ask me how I’d been doing, take my pulse and check out my tongue. Then I’d go into an exam room and lie down. Kevin would slip in the acupuncture needles, put a heat pack on my neck and turn on the heat lamp. Totally painless! Then I’d fall sound asleep for a little while. He would return, remove the needles and PRESTO! I would feel MUCH better. I don’t believe in magic, but this seems magical. I also took some Chinese herbs, mostly cinnamon, which helped as well. It’s all very calm and restful. He cured every symptom of my Cedar Fever except a small amount of irritation in my eyes. But I feel so much better that I can garden in the winter months. He also showed me how to use a heating pad and self massage, if I started to feel stuffy or sneezy. I liked the Chinese herbs so much that I have continued to use cinnamon and ginger regularly and feel that they are aiding my metabolism in addition to warding off allergies. One of the best things about Kevin is that his objective is to get you to the point where you don’t need to come back to see him. He’s trying to cure you in the least number of visits. And he is funny. But he’s also very attentive, patient, and generous. He’s great. I recommend him to everyone, and I have friends that have visited him with the same great experience.
I found a new friend in Dr. Kevin Luo here in Austin. I encourage anyone new to acupuncture therapy or new to Austin, to contact him. I am not new to acupuncture therapy, or herbs. I have issues resulting from life long scoliosis, age, lack of movement and life stresses, that at times need advice and help to restore me to my painless level and optimum health. I work hard in managing my health and that of my family by practicing wellness with eating and lifestyle changes. Having therapy with Dr. Kevin Luo continues to optimize my wellness, confirms my choices with his advice and within my means and he so attentive to my direction of continued health concerns.Thank you Kevin, I am pleased to have found you in this sea we call life and include you in my continued wellness. I am so grateful!!
It is my absolute pleasure to rate Kevin Luo's TxHarmony acupuncture practice with 5 stars. Kevin's generosity with his time and attention both in his office and in the treatment rooms is a surprise refreshment in this rush, rush, hurry-up world. His gentle touch of kindness with his therapeutic manner breeds a confidence with his treatments. His office/waiting room environment is calm, peaceful and sets me immediately at my ease. I would encourage anyone seeking acupuncture therapy to utilize Kevin's practice for treatments.
I saw Dr. Kevin Luo for 8-10 treatments for several different chronic issues. I had never had accupuncture before seeing Dr. Luo and was a bit anxious at the beginning. He was very thorough and professional and there was no pain or discomfort associated with the needles. He is an excellent listener and asked thoughtful questions related to my issues. I never felt rushed, and he was consistently on time for appointments. The accupuncture resolved my concerns, and I will not hesitate to see Dr. Luo again in the future or to recommend him to others. I was 100% satisfied with his services.
Dr. Luo has improved my life over the last year by ten fold. I was having neck pain that will bring on headaches which would not allow me to work or drive. Even got to the point of making me vomit. Dr. Luo help resolve this issue. Also helped us get pregnant!!! I normally go to see him about once a week when life allows. I recommend him to everyone and will continue to see him myself. I do not only think of him has my doctor but has a friend. He is just one of those type of people. So thank you Dr. Luo for helping me get my life back!!! My wife also loves you for it too!!!!
I have been going to Kevin Luo for several years and he is the best. I am an 82 year old woman with painful hip and knee problems. Because of Kevin’s treatments I am pain free and even better, I have avoided surgery. The office visit is always a pleasant experience as he is very kind and interested in you as a person and you never feel rushed. At my last visit he said I didn’t need to come back unless I have a problem. I definitely will be going back when the need arises and I highly recommend Kevin to anyone with any kind of health problem.
I have been seeing Kevin for several months to treat pain related to a car accident two years ago. His treatment has surpassed the results from traditional western medicine. In addition, Kevin adjusts my treatment to address additional issues that have surfaced such as stress and allergies. I highly recommend his services! His attentiveness to patient care is outstanding.
Dr. Luo is great. He has a great manner about him, and his treatment helped me recover very quickly. He came highly recommended to me, and I would recommend his services to anyone.
I highly recommend Kevin Luo at TX Harmony Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine. He is a very kind and caring health professional. He takes the time to really listen to his patients. This is quite different than what I usually experience with western medicine physicians. He truly cares about his patients. He treats my chronic back and neck pain related to bulging and herniated discs. Acupuncture, massage and cupping have helped me tremendously and have definitely improved my quality of life. I'm so thankful to have treatment options other than epidural steriod injections and powerful medications with so many side effects. He also treats other health problems I have experienced such as digestion issues, sinus problems, colds, etc. with herbal medicine and acupuncture. I highly recommend Kevin Luo to my family and friends.
I have been menopausal for almost 19 years; during the first 17 years my symptoms were controlled with hormone replacement therapy. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2010, and was taken off all hormones. My menopause symptoms escalated to a level so severe that they were/are impacting the quality of my life. In November 2011, I had total left knee replacement. I had my first appointment with Dr. Luo in December 2011, at the suggestion of my oncologist, with the hope that acupuncture might help relive my severe night sweats and hot flashes. When I started acupuncture with Dr. Luo, I was having at least one hot flash per hour during the day. I was experiencing 6 to 8 severe night sweats at night. I saw Dr. Luo every three to four days for the first three weeks. Within 4 to 5 visits, my night sweats were reduced to two or less in an evening. By the end of my second month, the night sweats were completely gone! I am thrilled to say the least! I had total right knee replacement in Nov. 2012. Dr. Luo also worked with pain relief and sleep issues during my sessions. Dr. Luo and I discussed the possibility of herbal medicine. My oncologist could not recommend an herbal remedy as there are no research studies which address the impact of herbal medicine on estrogen reducing drugs. (which are generally prescribed following cancer treatment) On April 4th, 2013, I made a decision to add the herbal remedy to my treatment. Within two weeks, I could tell a difference. My hot flashes are not gone but when I do have them, they are less intense, less frequent, and have decreased in duration. I am so encouraged. Dr. Luo has been so supportive and empathetic to each of my concerns. He is kind and professional; he is so easy to talk to. He exhibits a sincere interest in me and my issues. The treatment that I have received has truly changed the quality of my life! I am so grateful to Dr. Luo and have recommended him to many of my friends.
My wife and I originally started seeing Kevin for her. I had never been to an acupuncturist before, so I was intrigued by how the process worked and to see it performed. After a few visits, I decided to ask Kevin about some issues that I was dealing with (stress, anxiety, some back pain...the list was fairly extensive) and consult whether or not he believed he would be able to help. After my very first visit with him I was hooked and feeling so much better. I actually looked forward to going to a health care provider. He made me feel so comfortable and relaxed, I began to see him more as a friend than a care provider. He worked with me for several weeks helping me with a variety of issues and I was honestly sad when he told me, based on my progress, I was all better and no longer had to come and see him, unless anything new came up. He is the most thorough, caring provider I have ever been to. He never made me feel like I was a patient, instead I felt like a welcomed friend. I have (and still do) recommend him to my friends and family, and would encourage anyone looking to switch acupuncturists or begin treatments to see him. He is a wealth of information and help and is my official go to, fix me up, care provider. Truly the best.
I AM VERY PLEASED WITH THE RESULTS, DR. LUO HAS EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS
Kind, compassionate, and professional acupuncturist
Dr. Kevin was kind, compassionate, and thorough professional during my treatment. He helped me manage the physical and emotional stress of a conventional fertility treatment with acupuncture. Due to his treatment, I was able to relax and sleep well during the stressful time of the fertility treatment. He was also flexible in accommodating my appointments on short notice. I highly recommend Dr.Kevin Luo for acupuncture.

Dedicate to high quality service - professional and friendly
I have always been curious and interested in ancient medical treatments rather than modern methods. Due to these interests and curiosity, I visited Dr. Kevin several times for my health issues. I had some issues in the past few years such as muscle cramps in my feet, muscle pain in my shoulder, loss of appetite and stomach upsets, chronic gastritis issues, hair loss and gum decaying issues. Dr. Kevin was able to cure some of my health issues through acupuncture treatments alone by stimulating certain point of the body & nervous system. Other issues he cured with a combination of acupuncture treatments and Chinese medicine. As I’ve learned over the years, almost every eastern medical treatment monitors the natural behavior of the human body first, as all living creature are sensitive to their environmental factors. Environmental factors can have a positive or negative impact on the human body. To prevent negative impacts, the human body has defensive mechanisms; the natural force to heal itself. When something bad happens to the human body, all kind of medications, therapies, surgeries, etc. are used to resolve the ailment of the human body. However, these treatments and medications do not help accelerate or stimulate the body’s natural defensive mechanisms. Acupuncture treatment is one type of therapy that stimulates certain points of the human body to force the defensive mechanism system to get the ailment corrected without the use of chemicals. It stimulates the nervous system as a wake up calls for organs, blood circulation, respiratory system, muscle structure and so on. I believe acupuncture is the only treatment that makes healing time accelerate by jump starting the body’s natural healing abilities. Dr. Kevin Luo, who is proficient in acupuncture treatments, knows the exact points to place the acupuncture needles, and stimulate the nervous system to cure the diagnosed disorder. Dr. Kevin Luo creates a treatment plans based on patient’s symptoms and he knows the achievable progress of one session of treatment. To complete the whole treatment plan takes time, and is achievable when the patients follow his post-treatment instructions (prevention and precautions) until next session. Through this process, the patient’s recovery begins progressively. Alongside with the acupuncture treatment he is also proficient in Chinese medicine. If he decide that herbal medicine will support rapid recovery, then he treats his patients with herbal medication as well. Compared with western medication (pills) and their side-effects, where if I were to take a number of pills in a day for common health issues, (I’m not talking about severe chronic illnesses here), then my bowel system has to work hard to absorb the chemicals in the pills to the blood stream. Afterwards, the chemicals reach the organs through the blood stream and then starts supporting the defensive mechanism of the body to rectify the health issue. Final stage is the filtering of all the unnecessary chemicals out of the body through the kidneys. I believe this is the process that most modern day medication work through, however, it puts unnecessary burdens on the bowel system and kidneys. I have decided to extend the life of every organ in my body rather than giving heavy workloads to a few to save the others. This is why I prefer to follow the acupuncture and herbal medication as the best method of treatments for me. Thank you Dr. Kevin Luo.
As first time acupuncture patient I was extremely satisfied with the service I received. Kevin was personable and professional. His setup is very clean, comfortable, and welcoming.
